Sevier Aquatic Club offers both swim lessons and competitive swimming throughout the year. Many families who have started swimming in the summer like to continue with the instruction for their swimmers during the fall and winter. These families and swimmers continue to see successes in the water as the swimmer advances more and more in their swimming.
SIGNING UP:
Our club operates on three trimesters throughout the year…Summer, Fall, and Winter. While we have designated registration times for each trimester, we do accept registrants at any time. All Club Registration is held at the Sevierville Community Center pool area.
Summer Registration occurs in May with the Summer season stretching from May to July. Fall Registration is held in August (for August through December) and Winter Registration is held in January (for January through April).
COSTS:
Club Dues are paid and vary based on the level of swimmer. (see the bulletin board in the Sevierville Community Center for specifics)
There is an annual registration fee that helps offset our insurance costs.
We also require each family to help raise a designated amount of funds through team-generated fundraising events to help offset
general operating costs (so we can keep overall dues lower).
Suits, goggles, and caps are purchased at the preference of the participant.
BEING INVOLVED:
Practice Times: While school is in session, practices are held after school at the Sevierville Community Center Pool. During the summer
session, once school is out, practices are held at the outdoor Sevierville City Park Pool in the morning. (see our website or bulletin
board in the indoor pool area for specific times)
Training Groups: We have all swimmers grouped based on ability. Typically we start all kids in our Pre-Team group to establish their
ability in the water. From there, swimmers are moved up to the next level of swimming as their progress allows. There is a break
down and description of each group found both on our website and on the Sevierville Community Center bulletin board in the pool
area.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What if my child does not know how to swim?
SAC offers a level of swimming called The Pre-team Group, which involves the instructors in the water with the participants. At this level, the focus of the instructors is to meet the participants where they are with their ability to swim and continually moving them to the next level of understanding in their swimming.
This is one on one instruction with 3-4 other participants in the same group. With this type of instruction, we feel the participants get multiple chances to improve their swimming during the allotted time while still allowing for adequate rest time in between swims. A lifeguard is also on duty while the instructor is in the water with the participants.
How many practices does my child have to be at each week?
For those involved in the Pre-team Group, we encourage three practices a week. For those wanting to be involved at a competitive level in swim meets throughout the summer, we encourage anywhere from three to nine practices a week depending on the level of swimming for that participant. (see "What we Offer" on our website)
TEAM ACTIVITIES:
Team Socials: We have planned activities throughout the year that are optional, yet are a fun opportunity to get to know teammates and
other swim families on the team. These include the DJ Party, fundraising events/parties, bowling, hiking, roller skating, and more!
Team Banquets: A Team Banquet follows the summer session of competitive Summer League swimming as well as the August through
April session of competitive USA swimming.
